Cranbury School Students and Teachers Know a Lot!
Antinozzi Associates Architecture and Interiors was proud to join the Cranbury community, Norwalk Public School administrators, and City of Norwalk officials at the groundbreaking ceremony for the completely new 62,000 square-foot facility. This is Norwalk’s first completely new school in 50 years, and it replaces a careworn 1959 structure at the end of its useful life.
New Then Old Is New Again
One newer and more divisive style that has gotten short shrift in these parts is Brutalism, massively sculptural buildings derived from Le Corbusier’s work after World War II. There are a few great examples close by, notably the Yale Art and Architecture Building designed by Paul Rudolph. While I love the fortress-like appearance of béton brut, many have argued that it forsakes everything around it. As tastes inevitably change, though, some Brutalist buildings are having a moment, and creating a new tilt in historic preservation circles.

The International Labor Organization reports there are 40.3 million victims of modern-day slavery, a stat Prince called “astonishing and horrific.” This, she said, has motivated her to help remove slave labor from the supply chain of new construction including at the New Canaan Library.
