We’re essentially inventing it on the fly through many meetings to figure out what goes into whose bucket. We’re establishing a baseline where the Studio Leader manages staff and projects, while other leaders handle business development and company growth. We’re shuffling the deck to see what makes the most sense as we go.

Having a happy, collaborative group of engineers. Success is being the facilitator who makes everyone’s life a little easier, resulting in fewer “fire drills” because everyone is on the same page and enjoys their work. It’s about forecasting issues and planning before they become problems.

It starts with understanding the client’s goals and budget. If we’re nearing a deadline, I assess whether we need to add help to a project or can ask for an extension, depending on why the deadline was set in the first place. My role is to shuffle the “cooks in the kitchen” to make sure we get it across the finish line.

I start by asking what they’ve tried first, have they just stopped, or have they tried solutions?. I’ll spitball ideas or sit down with them to back-check their assumptions to ensure they reached the issue the correct way. We then decide whether we need a creative internal scheme or to reach out to the client to pivot.
